ASBO ballad (video)

Boogeyman of Tone
For anyone that doesn't know what an ASBO is, the letters stand for "anti social behaviour order". Generally given to chav/scally kids who wear hooded tops (gross generalisation I know)... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASBO

Anyway, I was wearing my hoodie and was trying to record a solo, and for no apparent reason I felt compelled to put up my hood (and roll my sleeves up lol) when the camera started recording. Haha :D

EDIT - Now on youtube.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hhq4jkV2X9g

I know what I think to my playing on this, but I don't want to sway judgement...

Criticism welcome and encouraged.

Haha..

My hoodie is devoid of any sports/designer logos... it's just plain grey (or is that 'gray' for the US guys?).

:D

OI! The backing track sounds eerily familiar. It sounds like the music of MIGHT AND MAGIC 6: THE MANDATE OF HEAVEN (the best game ever).

Your shaping of the notes is absolutely beautiful. Super-stylish use of the whammy bar. Selection of notes and intervals are incredible.

Max is the master! :D

The white strat looks stunning too.

BTW, Deus Ex (first one) is the best game ever. ;)

Thanks for checking it out guys. TBH, I wasn't 100% happy with this take. There are a few phrases which didn't turn out the way I heard them in my head. I got lost (musically) when I started playing the faster runs, which is why they sound a bit disjointed. I've been practising improvising over slower pieces like this because it's a lot harder (IMO) to make something work. But on the whole I was happy with the general vibe and it was the best take of the day.

It was totally improvised, apart from the very first note which I'd planned.

SOLO GUITAR STEWIE - Well, they're just stock American Strat single coils, so there's not a lot I can do about the hum. To me though, it's worth putting up with the hum because I'm happy with the tone of the instrument.

I love the feel of the trem on the Am Stds though, and I'd love to have maybe a H/S/S or H/H Am Std strat one day so I could do heavier styles of music. I set mine floating so there's a 2 semitone up bend available on the G string. It stays in tune well for all the things I use it for. If I want to go crazy on a trem I just use my Ibanez RG... but tbh, tone wise it's not a patch on my strat.

Re: ASBO ballad (video)

American Standard Strat stock, into a Line 6 Guitar Port on the Soldano SLO100 model, with a bit of tubescreamer, delay and reverb added in (all added in Guitar Port).
