Attention: Yngwie fans

Re: Attention: Yngwie fans

You "hate" the player?

Personally, I love the guy. No... I can't listen to his stuff over and over like I used to do for the second half of the 80's. And I don't own any strats with scalloped necks like I used to. But I dig that Yngwie is still out there being Yngwie -- doing his thing.

Long live Yngwie! (And I am curious about this amp.)

I love Yngwie, but I gotta admit, the last album I really liked from him was Facing the Animal, and that was I think 13 years ago? For about the past 10 years, the albums are mixed terribly (too harsh and thin) he needs a producer other than himself, the operatic style of his vocalists has been awful since Goran Edman left after Fire & Ice (his last good singer), and the songwriting needs to get away from the usual subject matter.... perhaps something not quite as dungeons and dragons (Eclipse was a great album).

But DAYUM, he's just such a friggin' phenomenal player and entertainer. Just untouchable. I rewatched the G3 live in Denver dvd, and he literally had Satch and Vai huddling/cowering together on the other side of the stage.

BIG props to him for remaining true to himself. That's something I really dig. He's definitely earned his own signature amp! I'm sure it will rock hard.

Yeah... his last several albums have been hard for me to get into as well. I think the last one that I really liked was "Magnum Opus". "Time Will Tell" is the probably the high point of that album for me. Been 16 years since that one came out.

I dig the G3 Denver DVD as well. Though it's a bit hard at times for me to watch Yngwie doing his high kicks with the big gut... LOL.

Re: Attention: Yngwie fans

I think Alchemy was easily his last truly great album. I still like all of the other ones though. And Relentless is far better than Perpetual Flame.

Re: Attention: Yngwie fans

This is the only clip I can find of any Rhino amp, and it's not the Yngwie. It's hard to tell what it sounds like, anyway. Listen to this "demo" at your own risk.

I remember Rhino. It was a small Texas amp builder, they were making some metal, Texas blues amp for pretty cheap. They didn't sell many amps, they were prone with problems and had poor customer support.

As they were trying to make it big, they starting designing and building a Malmsteen signature head, which was supposed to be a clone of his favorite Marshall, with the DOD 250 boost and a noise supressor built in. They were supposed to be his touring amps so he could leave his vintage marshalls at home.

I was planning on buying one, but before they could be released to the public, the company went out of business, closed up, and nothing was heard of them again.

Nice!

I remember back in '85. I had been through my Rhoads phase and gotten into Akira Takasaki of Loudness. :(

Good read! I LOVE Akira Takasaki! Remember seeing them open for the Crue.. Heavy Chains solo is one of my fav!!

I saw Yngwie opening for maiden here, so funny you did songs from both. Yngwie ripped.

Billy sheehan was mentioned earlier.. Whatta monster on bass!!

Yeah, the solo to Heavy Chains is my favorite Akira solo. I had been listening to that a lot in amazement when I first heard Yngwie, and completely forgot about Akira for a while. Whole nother league. But I still love that Loudness stuff. My old metal band in the 80s and 90s used to do "Let It Go". I still put it on and play along with it about once a week, just because it's fun. Those were the good ole days...
