Attenuated BF fenders

How would a deluxe fare with an attenuator like a weber mini mass or what not?

And just out of curiousity-how did people like Mike Bloomfield get such a great distorted tone out of a twin reverb?

I don't like attenuated clean and overdrive tones. Great for mid and high gain, but it kills the clean and overdrive IMO.

A mini mass would work fine with it. Over-attenuation renders annoying overtones and compression, but it sounds cool when you just want to take the volume edge off of the top.
