Attenuators - any good for home playing?

Re: Attenuators - any good for home playing?

I had one I put on a Fender Vibro Champ. It started to break up about 7 and even that was too loud. So I placed a meber mini mass on there and I could get it to break up sooner, it sounded kind of bla. I don't know if it was the amp or the mas.

they can work good on a 5 watt amp for "bedroom" level. If you think you can use them on a 100 watt head and get the same results, you wont. They really only sound good in moderation.

On something like a Valve Jr though, its a pretty handy device to have since 5 watts can still be quite loud for home playing comfort.
