Anyone know how to disable the preamps and cabinet sims so I can use only the effects?

Either change the OUTPUT SELECT on the right side of the rolling selector (to the right of the parameter buttons) or I believe you can click the far left button under the type of preamp.

When you change the output you will be globally shutting it off

BTW-if you just shut off the Preamp thing, it will turn on again with each new patch that is saved with it on (which I believe is all of the factory presets), so changing the output I believe is the only thing that makes sense.

There is no global on/off switch for the preamps on the GT-8. You must do it patch by patch. Fortunately, it's easy. All you do is hit the first button from the left on the preamp control section twice, hit WRITE, and you're done.

BTW, setting your output to anything other than LINE only disables the cab/mic sims, not the preamps.

Sorry, Pinto -- Benjy is correct on the output thing. I just experimented w/mine again, to see what happens. I guess you do have to go with the first thing, turn it off w/the button under preamps and literally shut it off for each patch and write...
