Authenticity of a JB?

hey guys,

there's a JB (JBJ?) pickup i've seen... its got the seymour duncan logo engraved on the bag (the big 'S' with polepeices) and the current owner says its from a top end late 80's kramer.. the sticker on the back says 'JBJ'.

is this the real deal?

yes... another wound by MJ (man, she had to wind half of the worlds JB's cos almost every 2nd one i see pop up is JBJ) .. you gonna get it?

The first two letter incates the model (JB) and the last the person how wonded it (J). I didn't know "J" meant MJ.

whoa! i probably will now lol - its for a beater guitar, and the pickup itself looks suitably tatty :laugh2:

sweet, its my first full SD 'bucker - every duncan i've had so far is SC or rails :burnout:

i got a L-500XL in there at the moment, should be an interesting experience comparing them..

I've got an MJ wound JB, and it sounds superior to every other JB I've encountered. It's not just a psychological thing either (thinking it sounds better coz MJ wound it), as I only learned that "J" means "MJ" recently.

I say buy it!

This whole thing intrigues me, I bought a NEW JB from Lew, but it says JBJ on the bottom, what gives?

Either way I like the pup, but I don't get it, surely MJ wouldn't have wound it because she's in the CS now, right?

MJ could have been on the shop floor though (maybe covering people who weren't in or something), or could be new-old-stock maybe?...

I just scored two JBJs this month!! The second one I bought not knowing what it was. The guy it had the Duncan logo on the bottom and nothing else bit a QC label. The label was the model identifier. Well, it was cheap so I took a chance. I have to rewire the leads because they are short, but It will be up on the trading post soon.
