Auto wah, anyone?

I don't mean the Boss type Auto-Wah. What I'm looking into is a wah without the 3pdt switch, where you take your foot off and it goes back to heel/off position.

What are you using?

Re: Auto wah, anyone?

I have a Morley Tremonti. It's auto-engage, I dial in a little boost and it cuts through gain great. Awesome for adding a little punch for leads, then easily disabling it. However, it is not a classic Vox/Crybaby tone, and not my favorite clean.

Crybaby 95Q may be worth looking into for more classic tones with auto return.

A tip for standard wahs, you can trim down the rubber bump stops to make it easier to engage, or raise the switch in the housing.

Morley Bad Horsie and BH2. (The 2 has the frequency selector pot.)

Behringer Hell Babe (cheap and a bit nasty)

Re: Auto wah, anyone?

I'll check into the 95Q.

I've made the switch easier on my VOX 845. I put in a 3pdt switch, adjusted the pot and threw in a couple led's. I like the sound, and being bypass now, it doesn't suck tone. Just thinking I'd like the auto return much more. Plus starting the sweep at the lower/bass tone would be cool.

Re: Auto wah, anyone?

I had a Bad Horsie awhile back, after having a GCB-95 for years. Starting off in the bass setting seemed like it would be the best thing in the world. I remember liking the Morley, but I've been back with a Crybaby for a long time, and the start of the sweep has never bugged me. I like the feel of it not having the return spring better.

Re: Auto wah, anyone?

I bought the BH1 and almost instantly wished that I had paid the extra for the BH2. My preference is for the Morley Power Wah. I like the frequency adjust control and it is handy to be able to park the peak at a specific frequency à la Schenker or Ronson. Of late, I achieve this effect with the EHX Cock Fight pedal.

I guess Jerry Cantrell Wah had what you're looking for. If not check G-Lab pad for wahs it does what you want.
