Automatic Tuners?

Have any of you tried the Tronical tuners?
They are supposed to automatically tune your guitar through their one piece tuning machine and keys.
This product also provides for alternate tunings - although my main interest is more standard tuning.....just want to know if anyone has tried this product.
I believe Gibson offers something very similar.

Thanks!

Re: Automatic Tuners?

Ah cool. I was wondering when someone would make their own robot tuners.

$299 really ain't all that bad. Maybe some day I'll try em out.

Re: Automatic Tuners?

The other guitarist in one of my bands has a Robot SG. It works well, but does add a bit of weight to the headstock. They also look bulky, but not from the front.

I have no experience with Tronical.

Re: Automatic Tuners?

Looks like the Tronical tune system is catching on. Looks kinda cool actually. Unlike gibson's system, this one is 15 min install and removable. Here is a vid of Michael Wagener demoing the system

There are alot more demos on there too.

Re: Automatic Tuners?

The only thing this might be good for is when you put on new strings and do the stretch- pull.. You still have to manually adjust this pos to get in tune. If you play in tune, that is.
I'd rather use a $10 Snark.

Re: Automatic Tuners?

Totally needs a remote control with an "unwind" button, so the owner can save time on string changes!

Re: Automatic Tuners?

If I was a fancy pants paid musician, I'd want my guitars set up with them, as long as I could tell the machine where I want it tuned too. I like drop tunings and it'd be nice to hit a button and it happens.

Re: Automatic Tuners?

Screw the auto tune i have a better idea. Could you mod something like this with a tune up and tune down button located on the pickguard? That would be the ultimate in lazy ''manual'' tuning. I am thinking a momentary switch or some mini snes style controller buttons?

Re: Automatic Tuners?

Has tuning ever been a problem to begin with? What is the market for such systems? Guitarists who can't tune because they don't have arms?

GIMMICK gadget. Meh.

Floyd Rose users' subconscious expectation of PAIN when changing tunings, no doubt....other than that, really a non-issue. Even good non-lockers hold tune for days (casual use) or YEARS (left in case)

Re: Automatic Tuners?

Now that I've tried one I use it regularly and when on stage it's a great asset. You decide how tight you want range of tuning. The charge seems to last a very long times since the tuning literally takes only 10 seconds.
