Playing convincingly is the hardest bit of the battle... Personally I'm quite poor at slower blues stuff, and thats what I'm working on with my guitar teacher.. That and my vibrato, which isn't up to par :smack:

I've heard this guy before, his two hand stuff is cool

the walk on water bit is rather impressive .. so is dead mans etude, but he's got a bit too much effect going on on that one, but the blues... too damn fast man.. thats NOT blues.. that didnt even come close

hmm, the dude's from austria. hmm.. 200 miles, i think i could go and snatch his amp :rolleyes:

This playing fast playing slow thing is a long debated thing, I dont get it. Play your guitar, dont even think about how fast or slow it is, thats taking the music out of context, if you find yourself doing this then you are not listening to the music and are simply listening to the"technique". As for saying one is harder than the other is ridiculous as well, they are both the same thing, speed is irrelevant, you are either good or bad. If you get your musical image from your head to your hands then you have succeeded.

Gavantia, you're absolutely right. EVH (and many other greats, probably) has actually said that as he matured musically, he realized that playing as fast as he could wasn't music, it was just playing. When he slowed down and listened to the music, as you said, he could play music that sounded better. He would still play fast, but not lightening fast.

I won't get into whether or not he is the greatest guitarist, but he is unquestionably one of the best. IMO his and many other guitarists music was better on their later albums. I think it was their maturing as players.

That said, I must also say that playing a fast solo that sounds good in a slow song, is a mark of an excellent musican.
