Awesome New Trem Invention. Super Vee.

One of the coolest things I noticed in the new Feb Guitar Player is a new easy retrofit double locking trem system for strats. WHY didn't I think of this???:smack:

It looks like you just pop out the nut, and put the new locking nut on the headstock, and simply put the bridge on with no mods. So easy anyone can do it. I can't wait to see one of these in person! I may even get one.

Re: Awesome New Trem Invention. Super Vee.

I need to see one in person. There was a thread about this a while ago. The nut is super cool looking, but the bridge is downright ugly. I am all for function, bi I hate the look of the bridge.

I'll reserve final judgement until I see it, but i agree the concept is super cool, and long overdue.

Re: Awesome New Trem Invention. Super Vee.

I would love to try one out.

Re: Awesome New Trem Invention. Super Vee.

Yeah, my first impression was that the bridge looked like some of the bad licensed trems Fender used in the late 80's. It could definitely look a little better and more streamlined, but the features for intonation are perfect.

Did anyone else notice the Kahler ad in the new magazine? I haven't seen one of those ads in over a decade!

Re: Awesome New Trem Invention. Super Vee.

I'd almost buy one, just for the nut. Can you imagine how sweet that would look on one of your sparkle reverse burst's Joe? That big shiny nickel nut up there......wow.

Re: Awesome New Trem Invention. Super Vee.

Neat. Everyone Paypal me a few bucks and I will be the first forum bro to try it out!

Really though I think it seems like a good idea. If the bridge looked as good as the nut it would be awesome.

Re: Awesome New Trem Invention. Super Vee.

If I had one, it'd go on my HS Fender Black Pearl Dust.

Re: Awesome New Trem Invention. Super Vee.

It would look wicked on that one, but equally on the blue one. The blue strat is my favorite ever, but I honestly prefered it with the chrome turned pickguard. I think that was the baddest rocking strat I've ever seen, to this day. Not vintage hot, but modern rock hot. Still got a pic of that?

Re: Awesome New Trem Invention. Super Vee.

I'm actually impressed. Me, I don't need a locking trem though: I prefer old-fashioned floating, but with mods (earvana and graphtech) to prevent detune. Still, thanks! I hope to see this on a guitar in stock form some day so that I can test it out!

Looks very interesting....

Curly just updated my Gear pages, so check it out! I added the Goldtone, mics, and how my pearl dust Fenders look now.....on the second page.

I like the look of the blue strat with black guard and aged white SSS setup more.
The problem with the aluminum guard is it sterilizes the tone a little, and I didn't play the guitar as a result. Now, the blue guitar is my most played guitar. Chubtone 69's are my favorite singles of all time.

Click on my Gear pages. And don't hate me because I'm boutiqueful. :laugh2:

If I had tuning issues with my trems, I might consider it but as things stand I can't justify the brain damage of a locking trem, let alone the cost of one of those things.

Re: Awesome New Trem Invention. Super Vee.

You buy the nut seperately for $89 is what the guy told me Via email. Right now they're only available in chrome. He said they're working on a black and nickel finish. I emailed to see if they were available in lefty just for a nut and it was a no go :(

Re: Awesome New Trem Invention. Super Vee.

You should pick them up as a new product! :13:

The hype will be huge on them in few weeks. You'll sell a bunch!

I may just do that bro! I have to see what the dealer cost is....

Re: Awesome New Trem Invention. Super Vee.

it's just another modified version of the rockinger and schecter trems from the 80s that were drop in/no route for vintage strat trems. i'll stick with my vintage 6 hole trems and my original floyds when i want a locker. that thing looks like a joke to me.

+100, they weren´t xatly highly regarded back then, either.

BTW the saddle and fine tuner design appear to be a direct ripoff of the ultra-dung single locking FLoyd copies available on practically any 50$ guitar in the late ´80s
