Someone on the HFC boards posted this link a few weeks ago..
Amazing how Uli has NOT changed...he still looks as youthful (and dresses the same
) as he did 30 years ago with The Scorpions...Pete Way hasn't changed either...
Schenker on the other hand....oh boy....he's just a mess....and I don't mean just how he looks...hell we all are getting older....but everything it seems has suffered in his life...his playing, his sanity, his tone.....sigh...I actually hate to watch/listen to his recent stuff anymore...makes me sad

I think I mentioned this in the past but I passed up a chance to see Schenker play at a little roadside bar/club in a little nearby town named Yucaipa for $10 about 2 years ago. I guess I figured the guy was a mess and it wouldn't be worth it. Probably shoulda gone.

Pete Way is no polesmoker, he is far to screwy for that, I think he is only into aliens and chihuahuas these days. The last few years haven't be so kind to old Pete he looks much rougher than in that vid.
Oh yeah the guy with the beard isn't too bad.

he dressed that way 30 years ago...and was a huge influence on guys like Steve Harris for one...Nikki Sixx, Rick Savage, etc....where do you think the whole Stripes/polka dots thing came from in 80s metal?
Pete Way was THE british metal bassist of the time....he had the R&R attitude and the cool clothes/moves. Not the best bass player in the world (at least in the technical sense)...but way cool bass player nonetheless.

Now I have a very serious plan of BUILDING a sky replica this summer (27 frets slanted fretboard and different layout, maybe a bit smaller too) and I want a UFO/Scorpions CD. Any advise on what I should get?

For UFO you should start with "Strangers in the Night" Arguably Michaels peak. Personally though I think his peak and best playing was on the Michael Schenker group's "One night at Budokan". Buy both, you wont be disappointed.
For Scorpions...Uli era would be Tokyo Tapes (live album,and ulis last with them) Mathias era would be "World Wide Live".
Studio albums from them (UFO an The Scorpions) are a whole nother ball of wax.

Pierre...try UFO "Strangers in the Night" and Scorpions' "Tokyo Tapes." Both are live. I only have one of the Scorp's studio albums with Uli so someone else might be able to help there.
Pierre...you can only play a guitar like that if you dress like that.
