awkward Strat controls

I've had a bit of a search on the forum and couldn't find the the info I was looking for, but I may have missed it so apologies if this has been answered.

I just bought myself a squier standard strat and have JB jr to put in the bridge. The problem is the volume control being in the way when I palm mute.

I always run my pickups at pull volume so I've thought about removing the the volume pot, but didn't want a hole in my scratch plate.

Is there a better solution than this? are the bits ie a scratch plate with only 2 holes available?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure i've seen a 2 hole scratchplate but can't remember where.I have master vol & master tone so i moved my vol. pot to the middle and covered the hole with a sticker.

Replace the pickguard with one that has no holes and drill your own, or do what I did....Get used to it. :D

I ordered a G&L Legacy 2HB two weeks ago and have the same issue as you do....the volume knob gets in my way. However, I like everything else about the strat. So, I just ordered the same exact pickguard G&L is putting on it with the exception it doesn't have the volume knob drilled out for it.

Re: awkward Strat controls

My vol knob got in the way during heavy rthym stuff. I was constantly lowering the volume as I played... I just removed the knob, but left the pot in... Now all I have is the post sticking out. This allows me to still adjust the volume knob, but now I don't have to worry about accidentaly lowering the volume as I play... By turning the post, vol adjustments has to be a bit more deliberate, but no more fading myself out...
