Hey everyone,

This may be a dumb question but what gives a pickup that "aww" sound like a wah pedal stopped half-way. I assume its all or mostly e.q. but what e.q. curve accentuates this sound? Does the type of magnet effect it? The reason I'm asking is that I don't really care for this type of sound so I want to eliminate those pickups from my possibilities.

A lot of it is the technique, you can change your picking technique to coax sounds like that out of pickups.

DiMarzio is the first thing that comes to mind, when you mention that, though.
