As bright as they are, I always thought they would be great for lower tuning and extended range guitars. I had one for a while but it really didn't do what I wanted and I didn't want to go down the rabbit hole of trying to make it into what I wanted. Nicely done on your part.

a good cutting articulate boost fixes 75% of the problems IMO.
it's kind of a airy saturated bass heavy mess without one.

Nice heavy tone while still retaining clarity.

I came across my AT100 at a pawn shop. I had never heard of B-52, but decided to test drive it just the same. I didn't expect much out of this amp i had never heard of, but when i plugged in a guitar, my jaw dropped in a amazement of the tones coming out of this thing. Since buying it, I have heard they call this the "poor mans Mesa Boogie",but i have owned two Mesa Boogies over the years and had recently test driven a Mesa Triple Rectifier at the local music store, but here is the interesting part, this B-52 AT100 sounded better! Just for the record, I'm a tone snob, and don't get blown away by an amp easily, but if you can pick up a AT-100 in good working order, including good tubes, you wont be sorry. This amp will get anything from clean, to blues to metal. Some people seem to think because B-52 is not a well know brand that these are cheap amps, but this head retailed for 1,199.00...but Im sure street price was less, and i've also heard that guitar center had really good deals on this head and the AT 4-12 matching cabinets after they were discontinued. https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/guitar_amplifiers/b-52/at-100/index.html
