Hey yall I have a B-52 4x12 cab on hold at a local pawn shop, I don't kno much about them are they any good? It's got to be better then the 1x15 bass amp am using now lol.

do you know which cab? They had one with a gold emblem for the stealth series. The back panel only with 3/4 of the way down and it had a metal front. That cab sucks. That was my first cab and i had it a month. The one with the silver emblem and grey cloth front was really well made and the speakers were decent.

That's not bad IMO. Theyre well built and the speakers were ok, Bot the best around but for $250 you're not getting V30's. ive seen some in rough shape go for $200

B-52 cab? I'd rather plug into a Rhino's butt. Save your money and buy a better cab - and buy it once!

No way that B-52 cab is made of anything but particle board.
Avoid.

I understand what everyone means about saving up for a good cab. I agree there are a lot better cabs for the money but it seems a little weird to spend the $500 on a marshall cab to plug in a $200 peavey windsor. You probably don't need a 4x12 ATM so the route you probably want to go is find a better quality 2x12 or 1x12 that will handle a 100 watt head. I don't think the b52 is bad for $200 if you could talk him down, but you can do better.

For one thing, the better cabinet will make the Peavey sound better. Playing it through a cheap MDF cab will make it sound like a $200 amp.
Also, if you decide to upgrade to a better head in the future, you'll already have a great cabinet to use.

Well, again, is a 4x12 totally necessary at this point? A good quality 2x12 is probably much more desirable then a "eh" 4x12. There are a lot worse then the B52 but if you're willing to save up for it, there is also a lot better. That is a killer deal on that Marshall 1960 4x12 assuming it's in good condition AND he didn't part out the speakers and sneak cheapo's in there. Be sure to ask to check that out first. I've heard stories of people doing that too.

The Krank Rev Jr 1x12 cab seems good for a great used price. GC has used ones for $120 and they come with an Eminence Legend V12 and a power rating of 120-watts.

I agree with the earlier Avatar reference. For $350'ish you're getting solid construction from quality materials with name brand, known, speakers. There are several choices in speakers which in a 2x12 cab will easily handle the power from a 100w head and probably get you closer to speaker break-up than you would from the 4x12.
Used cabs are a great deal too. Check out Ebay, I often see empty custom cabinets sold at great prices. Add your choice of Warehouse Guitar Speakers and you could possible come in under the $350

I hear that they are way better then a crate cab, witch they also had and it was smaller and in really bad condition...

i have 2 b-52's that i run tube peaveys through...got no complaints.....LS-412..angled and straight....bought the top first...liked it so much...bought another one...brand new from g.c. for 250 a pop..
