Re: B-52 Cabs! Whats the scoop?

Hell yea this is what I wanted to hear, I'm so sick of everything I want to by being not good enough lol. Witch peavey head do u have?

I now this post is way too old, but I was browsing for some info and Google took me here. Here's my 2c: When it comes to choosing your cab (or amp, or guitar, or effects, etc.) don't go listening to bitter purists, man. The best sounding cabs will be the ones your ears tell... I have an AT-412 and it kicks nine kinds of ass. Got it used as an emergency on a foreign gig, and it was the only thing I could afford given the conditions... Best $150 I've ever spent. This was 7 years ago, and I still have it and take it to larger gigs with famous results (my other cab is a Line 6 Vetta 2X12). "Cheap" don't always mean "bad". Just fire it up and see if it fills your expectations yourself.

I had a B-52 in the rehearsal room I would use once in a while. I would avoid them at all costs. Most of the cab suggestions in the thread are good. If you are in a cash crunch and really need to get a cab I would suggest a used Fender FM 412 4x12. IMO it is the best of the lower end cabs. It is actually made out of ply not particle board. It will not blow you away but it won't rob your tone either. I have seen them go for as low as $100.

May I also suggest searching for a used Ampeg V4. Heavy as hell but they sound phenomenal, it might be a bit harder to find but you should be able to grab one for $150 - $250. Nuno would actually run one along with his Marshalls. The Marshalls were mostly for show. He claimed it gave a sweeter tone than the Marshall cabs.
