Feel you on this. That's one thing I hate about Boogies while they can sound really nice when set up right they can also sound like utter poo at the twist of a knob. That was one of the tihngs that attracted me to my PRS Archon. Just start at noon on every thing and tweak a little from there and it's going to sound great.
The Ironheart is a solid amp looked hard at a couple of 60's and like them a lot. Owned several Laneys over the years they are very solid amps. Congrats on the new rig and some inspiration from it!
Yeah the Archon Clips you've posted have always sounded great. I've never had the chance to play or even see one here though... ;(
I do like the smaller
Metal head though. I played around w/ one a couple years ago and it's a cool little amp.
I dont like having to fight with an amp (or any gear for that matter) to get usable tones.Prefer to get on with the playing than endless tweaking :bigthumb:
@ negative ease.I always assumed an amp like the mark v would be easy to dial in for great tones (and it def has those in spades) somehow...I know recto's can be a bit tricky..though I love their sound..
Anyway, There's one last trick up the Ironheart's sleeve that gives me yet another opportunity for a shredding little video/demo...and that's the push-pull EQ.
The change is pretty subtle it's not night and day but it does affect the tone all the same...
Pulling the bass EQ knob adds a slight bass boost more saturation/compression (great for tapping ) though the amp is great for tapping anyway, or I would'nt have bought it
Pulling the mid adds a more vowelly-"aww" kinda charecteristic to the sound..
And pulling the treble one kinda rounds out the top end (great for thin sounding single coils)
My guitar was tuned a bit flat here (well, it was a bit out of tune)..but I had the mid & treble EQ knobs pulled for this...
