Back from the Dead?

Thanks to a stupid mistake in my workshop, the (traditional single coil) neck pickup on my Strat got exposed to a powerful magnet. Now, the pickup is extremely weak, almost silent.

Is there any way to get the pickup's rod magnets back to their old sound, or it this pickup a goner?

they just need to be charged up again

I have recharged magnets by placing them between two stronger N/S-N/S/-N/S
magnets. I have used two old speakers or you could go to a farm store and buy cow magnets.

Neodymium disk magnets can do the trick, evidently. You can have the guitar plugged in and regauss the pickup to your taste.

You can also buy small neodymium disks at Northern Hydraulics, Harbor Freight or Radio Shack.
