How would one compare the '59 set to Seth Lovers? I'm familiar with them as I have them in 2 different guitars...
Both are nice, low output pickups. '59 is more scooped - sounds more acoustic to my ears, especially on the neck (neck also can be bassy if you adjust it too close to the strings). I thought the bridge needed judicious use of the tone control sometimes, it can get quite bright. The Seth works slightly better for barely broken up / overdriven sounds to my ears.
I kick myself every time Seth's come up. I had a set sitting around for a few years. I just never had the right project for them. So I sold them without ever having heard them. I hate getting old. :banghead:
FWIW, I like the '59 better in the neck. I like the Seth better in the bridge. But if you try to match a '59 neck with a Seth bridge you have to back the neck waaaay off because the '59s are higher output.
I've got a 59 in the neck of my blue V. It's the only neck pickup I kind of like.
So, what did you pair in the bridge?
