Backing drum tracks live.

If I made drum tracks on the computer and wanted to play them back on a PA using an MP3 player, I wouldn't be able to mix the individual hits on that PA, what is the best way to mix something like that so it sounds good on PA and blends in with all the other (real) instruments?

Well you get what you get. Send the stereo mix to the house mixer and pray. The way I would want to to do it is have a multi track either stand alone or a laptop and send each drum track to the house board for them to mix.

What if I compressed the drums so every hit was around the same volume?

I would mix them the best I could including compression and then rehearse against them. Try and simulate the best you can what you will encounter in the club. If they're mixed really well it should work okay if the house mixer is any good.

You could get a multitrack recording unit (which you'll find millions of other uses for) and send each .wav of each drum instrument to a different track. Then the sound guy can mix and EQ them with the sliders.
