Bad pedal cable problem

At my gig last night, I had a wierd problem. I plugged in my Riviera. I keep it mostly in the middle switch position, but do switch during songs. I hit the switch down and an ungodly screech comes out. Middle, it stops, I throw it up and the same noise, maybe a different pitch, comes screeching out. My Les Paul did'nt seem affected by it, but I had used my Riviera there before without feedback issues. I started blaming the other 3 guys for using wireless that night, LOL but the other guitarist said it could be a bad cable. I was getting a signal, but I did notice my ususal tone was lacking last night. So tonight, I take every 'jumper' off my pedals and plug into my amp and guitar to see what kinda sound I'm getting. One jumper was crackly and intermittant. AHA! Glad I checked, BUT can a bad jumper cable betwen pedals cause my Epi to squeal by rocking the toggle?:smack: Thanks

Re: Bad pedal cable problem

That's a weird one. Maybe when the cable was shorting out, it was picking up the whine of the pedal right after it losing it's juice. However, that wouldn't account for your toggle switch. Make sure the 3 way switch hasn't lost it's ground to the pot ground.

Re: Bad pedal cable problem

Yeah, I shoulda just run my Riviera straight into the amp to eliminate a problem with the switch and point to the pedal chain as the issue. My amp was miked too, but with the PA off, I was still squealing...I'll bet it's those jerks and their wireless. hehe
