I'm sure you could tune those strings into standard A 440, but you're not going to be able to do much of nothing with 'em. Unless you're D!ck Dale. They're meant for the Fender Subsonic Telecaster if I remember right, and is tuned to B. The original Baja Sexto is a Mexican instrument with 6 pairs of strings, and resembles a 12 string guitar tuned an octive lower. It became real popular here in Texas in the 1920's with the big boom of Tex-Mex music. It was used to play the parts that a piano would usually play in the American/Mexican mix of music.

Fender has always had a long scale/lower tuining guitar of somekind...the Bajo Sexto Telecaster is around a 30 inch scale and the 16-66 guage strings are made for tuning A-A (down a perfect 5th from a guitar), if you put those strings on a Bajo Sexto and try to tune to E you would really damage the guitar. There is also the Bass VI from the 60's that was also 30 inchs and could either but tuned A-A with the 16-66 strings or tuned E-E (an octave lower that aguitar) with strings that run 25-95 I belive. there is also the Subsonics (strat and tele) that have a 27 inch scale are are tuned B-B (down a perfect 4th from a guitar) and use strings that are around 14-60 I belive. The truth is that you can do all kinds of things when you change tha scale and the string guage, but you have to be smart...it is pretty easy to really damage a guitar if you're not careful.

ok...you can damage a guitar with super large strings...if you just want to try something go ahead, but becareful. If you would tell me what you have in mind I could halp you a little more...I have used strings guaged from 8-38 up to 16-65 with various guitars and tunings...I'll help you but you have to tell me what you are looking to do.

you could use 13-56 or so in standard E tuning and shouldn't have any problems...Jazz players normally use heavy guage strings...I don't think I would use the 16-66 in E, but lots of guys use 13's...

on an SG (which has a rather small mahogany neck), I would stop at around 12, maybe 13...Fender guitars have maple necks and can take a bit more abuse...13-16 are some big ass strings.

.012s to .016s is a pretty huge jump. You also would have to have your nut slots enlarged if you jump up that dramatically, not to mention the neck and bridge adjusted, and there's no way you should tune .016s to E. If .011s are too thin, why don't you start with .012s before jumping to .016s.
