I put an EMG-81 into a regular sunburst Affinity Strat. To my surprise, it totally and utterly rocked. (I usually hate the regular -81, preferring the -81X.) Something about the combination simply works. In my experience, the EMG-85, -81X and SD Blackouts do not sound as good.

That was sweet! (And I'm not even a "metal" kinda guy.) It looks like he put some kind of active pup in there.
Regardless, I'd love to see him redo that with an "Emily the Strange" SG.
