Band just told me...

Re: Band just told me...

I love this forum sometimes.
"Tune that low" as if drop C# is actually all that low in the first place.
Guys, it's Eb standard with the lowest string dropped down 2 semi tones, it's not like it's all tuned an octave down:laugh2:
Drop C is hardly particularly low either, so stop with this ridiculous "Why would you want to tune so low" business.

I tune my 6 string E standard most of the time (with the occasional drop D, which was a favorite of folk guitarists anyway, so it's hardly some out of the ordinary tuning) and my 7 string is in B standard (E standard with a low B string) so I'm not one of these "new fangled down tuning guitarists" before you accuse of that.
But christ, at least I'm open to the idea that people aren't going to tune the same way I do and want to use different tunings.
Telling him to "Tune to E standard" is not going to be helpful guys, come on.

Re: Band just told me...

If you wanna hit that lower C, you wont get that in standard (unless you are playing a 7-string with a low B). One of the best things i've learnt in bands is not to hold things as sacred so much. In the end it is only rock n roll, and this kinda thing shouldnt stop you from rockin out and playing some cool shows. There are more important things in band situations to get stressed about. In the end slap on some thicker strings and go down that extra semi-tone. To me it is just like slapping a capo on the neck, just in reverse.

On a side note, King's X go down to C at times don't they?
