I'm putting up a 5/6 pedals board for band practice. I'm buying a pedal tote (powered) with outlets for both 9 and 18Vs... leaving me a lot of options!
I have so far:
Bad Monkey (first in chain) -> Russian Muff -> Cool Cat Metal I -> Carl Martin Hot Drive and Boost (end of chain)
I chose the Cool Cat metal over the Power Grid as it sounds a bit brighter, slightly thinner and it's less gainy: the Power Grid therefore suited home playing better. The Power Grid was nice but I wanted more cut, I hope it'll work out this way.
The HDB is last in chain for its buffer and clean boost. I sometimes play clean parts over heavy bass and drums and I need the volume boost. It'll also be the solo boost, or a standalone OD should I need it.
Bad Monkey's first to act as my usual Low gain OD. I MAY replace it with the MI Audio Blues pro, which would be then ran at 18V
or I could get another Blues Pro, which would be the idea solution.
Those sounds give me several light OD options, Fuzz, ultimate destruction of universe (Muff + Monkey boosting it), metal and clean, just from an amp's clean channel.
I don't use any modulation live or in the band.
I have a spare DIY Crunchbox, Brown Sound In a Box II, modded DS1 (may make the board, I love it) and AC Tone (which is picky about amps)
What else could I need in a live setting? A lot of those amps at the rehearsal room are silverface Fenders, so I was thinking of a compressor as they can sound a bit too lively. Maybe also a volume pedal would make things easier overall?
So for the guys who have seperate home and gig/practice rig, what would you recomend?
My guitars barely go out of tune so I doubt I'd need a tuner but a second pitchblack is considered.
This is my current home setup:
Thanks y'all!
