bar magnets

im planning on buying a duncan custom 5 and trying the different magnets in it. i have 2 gibson humbuckers (500t super ceramic and 496r hot ceramic). is there a difference between the magnets in these and other aftermarket suppliers? also, are the ceramic magnets in the 500t and 496r the same magnets? ill probably try a 59 bridge and do a hybrid, and try all 3 magnets. is there any benefir of buying the ceramic magnet from someone else, or is the ceramic in the gibson hbs of high quality?

The 500T has 3 ceramic magnets in it: the main one in the middle and two skinny ones off to each side. The 496R has just the one ceramic in it. Just grab a main ceramic and slap it in the Custom 5 and you'll have a Custom.

In theory they´re identical, in reality you´ll need a Gauss-meter to find out

Should be pretty much identical, yeah. But as with any two magnets, as Zerb suggested, there will be some slight individual variation.

As far as the slight variations go, no problem. But as for whether you would like a ceramic pickup in general in that pickup, only you can answer that question when you hear it. It's all a matter of taste from there.
