Re: Barcus Berry electric pickups?
Yes. My friend has a custom made "Rarebird" guitar that has Barcus Berry pickups - a humbucker in the bridge and a single coil in the bridge.
I don't know what models, or how old they are - I think it's from the 80s or early 90s. Both pickups are covered/epoxied and say Barcus Berry on them.
They're cool and unique sounding pickups - I don't really know how to describe them - not really vintage, but also not super-duper hot.. I guess they're a little "sterile" sounding - but not necessarily in a bad way. The single coil has a nice Tele spank to it.
The guitar that they're in is really weird, - an ultra thin body and tiny, skinny neck, so that probably colors the sound too. I'd love to hear what the 'bucker sounds like in a SG or Lester.
