Darkness on the edge of Tone
Okay, I've been promising this for a while, and I finally had a few minutes to lay down a riff on my newest guitar, the Twilight Odyssey Custom.
This is my most-played guitar at the moment.
The brigde pickup is a BARE KNUCKLE MIRACLE MAN. First off, this pickup totally rocks! I was astounded at how close I could get to the tone on Back For The Attack with this pickup!!! The tone is definitely a cross between Lynch and Wylde. Not for the faint of heart, this pickup was made for one thing only -- METAAAAALLLLLL!!!!! :headbang:
I raised the pickup about .8mm today, and the tone improved even FURTHER.
The clip I recorded is to show you how the pup interacts with the maple body/neck/fingerboard, as well as how cleanly it holds together with intense, high gain. The riff is very "big 80's", much like you would hear on just about anything coming out of the LA metal scene in the mid-late 80's. I even did some whammy bar work, and a harmonic dive at the end for moom.
You were expecting a ballad, perhaps?? :evil:
I will be making more clips of the Bare Knuckles to follow, as time allows: clean bridge, as well as distorted and clean neck clips. (Bare Knuckle Irish Tour is in the neck).
