Bare knuckle warpig vs Seymour Duncan custom

I’m looking for a bridge pickup that is great for metal, heavy metal, grunge I.e. lots of distortion but will still sound good at crunchy and clean tones. I narrowed it down to the Duncan custom and the bareknuckle warpig. Does anyone have any experience with either and be able to give me a few pointers? (I will be pairing it with a Seymour Duncan jazz in the neck)
Thanks

The Custom is cheaper go for that one. If you can find a Warpig at a decent price, it is an excellent pickup. But the thing about BKP is that overall they have a certain tone that you either like or don't. The Custom is a much safer bet, you can switch out the magnets to get a Custom Custom or Custom 5 if you want to. Pairing it with a Jazz, I'd go Custom 5 to start.

Another thing I'd like to add is that if you were just doing a plain shootout, the JB is closer to the Warpig than a Custom.

Okay thanks that’s helpful, I don’t really understand the tonal differences between the custom 5 and the custom, will a custom 5 still do high and heavy distortion. I’ve always heard it’s more of a lower output, softer and cleaner pickup. I don’t really know at all where the custom custom lies

I have a custom custom. Its pretty mid forward, with a cut in the lows and low mids and a slightly rounded, singing high end. Its a great pickup for rock rhythm and leads, but for any super heavy metal rhythm youll need some decent picking ability to make it chug nicely as the lows/low mids are loose and very recessed. I think any of those pickups will do grunge, warpig and custom will sort you out for metal. I know nothing about the custom 5, but knowing what i do know about the custom, custom custom, and warpig, i think regular custom or warpig. The warpig is said to have a massive low end with slightly recessed highs. Bkps tend to be very extreme in their eq curves; with that being said if you want a safe bet id go custom. If i had to guess, based on duncans track record with a5, the custom 5 will have pretty scooped mids with some odd frequencies going on. Keep in mind that the custom was DESIGNED with ceramic, and the custom custom and custom 5 were just magnet swaps.

Yea no problem. Definitely a ceramic warpig or a custom. Bkps are said to be very love/hate pickups. If you can, find someplace you can play a warpig. Otherwise, always try the cheap option first. If the cheap option works for you, why would u try something more expensive right?
