Bareknuckle Mule vs. 57 Classic

Re: Bareknuckle Mule vs. 57 Classic

Wow, that guy has chops. Both setups sounded great IMO. The BK sounded more open and unforgiving, while the '57 sounded smoother to my ears.
Something about the BK reminds me of an APH.
I have a set of Mules and while those have Alnico IV magnets, not A2, A4 also contributes to a balanced, 'vintage' tonality. According to Tim Mills of BKP Alnico II, III and IV were used in the earliest PAF's so I can see why the two magnets are in the same 'vintage' ballpark tonally. Each type sounds best with different windings, though. :)

So the mules are A4? Interesting. So would you say the clip lives up to how the Mules sound in the room?

Re: Bareknuckle Mule vs. 57 Classic

Yeah, sure, since the pickups are used in the clip. ;) The set sounds different in my guitar, though. There are lots of clips at the BKP board and Youtube featuring different amps and guitars so if you're interested, those are the right places to look around. :)

I am loving this. One person responds to this thread. And he has a Mule. I am going to keep posting these threads with tangible evidence about pickups, just as my own little human behavior experiment.

We already know how many responses there would be if the thread was "57 vs Mule, can someone describe what I should expect"

Now I know why everyone dogs the clips on the SD site. What fun is proof! All in good fun folks, but it is an interesting observation.

I have a set of AIV Mules in a Gibby LP standard which replaced a set of Seth Lovers.

While I really liked the Seths, I tried the Mules and they blew me away. More op, clearer sounding and basically flat tonally. They really let the sound of the guitar come through imo.
