Baritone guitar pickups

I picked up an Agile AL 2800 Baritone today for pretty cheap. Pretty great quality, looks like a LP. Pickups are just ok, on clean they sound pretty good but on the overdrive channel on my amp with barely any gain the pickups just sound flat and overly compressed. They are pretty hot pickups and im thinking of switching them out.
I have a Marshall Jcm 600 and im gonna be using this thing for mostly stoner rock like kyuss and early qotsa. So ill tune it to C standard (its in B standard right now)
My question is which pickups should i get? My thoughts were a Custom Custom in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck.
Any thoughts?

Re: Baritone guitar pickups

The Jazz is the awesomest neck pickup for a baritone LP-style guitar. I think your Agile is all mahogany & rosewood like my Epiphone baritone. For your style of music, something hot works well. The Custom Custom is a fine choice, but I lean toward even hotter pickups for my own guitars: JB or Distortion. I actually have a Dimebucker in mine right now, but the Distortion is closer to my desired sound.

Hmm yeah. I have a JB in my HSS strat and it sounds great downtuned. Do you know if the magnet spacing will work with that guitar?

Re: Baritone guitar pickups

With a tune-o-matic-style bridge, the poles of a standard spaced pickup will line up with the strings. Unless you're talking about taking the JB out of your Strat- then you would have to measure to make sure it's not trem-spaced or f-spaced.
