Baron Snott Watt

Re: Baron Snott Watt

Based on the quality of the amp and the sound of the clip, I think $720 shipped is a good bet. That's how much Chinese lunchbox amps cost. I'd make sure to add some money and get a couple extra 12BH7 tubes if I ordered one.
Spend the extra $60 and get the FX loop too.

Being a small business, I doubt you'll ever come across a used one.

Re: Baron Snott Watt

I think it looks pretty cool too. Price seems reasonable considering...how much will a Dual Terror or OR15 set ya back?

FWIW those BH7s seem to be more commonplace...i am seeing them carried by places like tube depot, the tube store, etc. Marshall is using it in the new DSL5 watter coming out too IIRC.

I agree with everything said here!

There are still deals to be had in high quality, hand built American made amps, like Lil Dawg, but I am sure they are not what you are looking for tonally, if this excites you.

Re: Baron Snott Watt

The more I look at this amp, the more I want it. One thing I have to consider is that if I pay full price, resale value will be low due to lack of brand recognition. They look like great amps though. If I'm considering a one channel, high gain lunch box, it's probably between this and the Orange Dark Terror.

Re: Baron Snott Watt

Cool or not, thats scary expensive... Were in DSL/6505 + attenuator territory here

BTW!! Some Laney 50w hotrodded jcm800 clones had attenuators built in.... And could go whisper quiet. Faaar better deal, especially @ ~$350 (ymmv!)

I love Dave and Baron amps. I own a K series and the first BM (British Metal) model. Know that there is 6 month wait.

Re: Baron Snott Watt

Thanks for all the responses guys! JeffB, with regards to your question, I've seen the Snott Watt used for between $500 and $600. I was actually able to score a Dark Terror for $395 which was a great deal I couldn't pass up. Maybe some day I'll own a Snott Watt, who knows!

Re: Baron Snott Watt

Ahh...I was not considering used prices..I meant New vs. New, but glad ya got what you wanted.

This seems like a killer little amp tho.

Contrary to your opinion - for these amps being custom built to customer spec, by a single person, all on turret boards, and actually sound and look great, I would have expected them to cost twice as much. I don't think Dave's amps deserve to be compared with corporate-spewn cookie-cutter products like these, simply because they belong in different leagues. Among Fryettes, Soldanos and Bogners, Barons seem a steal.
