I'm surprised how close the small Laney sounds to the bigger Marshall, at home level there's pretty much no difference (Laney does solos even better) yet the louder you go the bigger tubes/transformer of the Marshall come in to play and simply headroom/bottom end is of a higher quality. Another thing to consider is Laney got almost brand new tubes on board where Marshall has not been serviced for the last 3-4 years as far as I know.
* Don't know how they did it but Marshall's volume increases nicely along the scale where Laney (not the first one) goes to it's max volume at 4 master level and then just cooks the tubes.
