another P-90 question,,

Can I swap the baseplates between a SP90-1n and a SP90-3b

I want to put the SP90-1n in my les paul but it wont fit with the vintage correct baseplate

it fits in the bridge position (ive got the sp90-1n in the bridge now)
this way both pickups can be fitted onto my guitar

Re: baseplate swap, can it be done!

I haven't had any direct experience with the SP90-3, but I would bet the baseplate is the same as the other SD models. You can always take a mill file (carefully) to the corners of the baseplate and round them out if it doesn't fit. That seems the be the main sticking point (no pun intended) with the various soapbar baseplates. I had to do this to some 50's P90's to get them into a R6 goldtop.

Re: baseplate swap, can it be done!

The SP90-1 series have bigger baseplates, its a different baseplate altogether from the SP90-3

so if i can swap them around at least I can stick the SP90-1 in the neck, and the SP90-3 with the SP90-1 baseplate will fit into the bridge position

they both fit into the actual slots, its just the cavity in the neck is closer to the strings and i can install the Pickup without it touching the strings
