If and when I record I usually keep the volume low and put the microphone close to lose a lot of background noise (hopefully). I don't plug it into my SC directly because I don't like the sound. However when the amp is cranked a bit more and the mic put further away I think it sounds better (Roland Cube 30). I have yet to experiment, but if you guys have any mic placement tips, I'd be more than welcome to listen.
