Basic wiring questions

As I was trying to figure out a layout I was wondering what would have happened if I had wired some of the “mistakes” I was doing on paper, I’ve done many other mistakes but not these [emoji4]

All for single coils.
1) What happens if you wire two pickups in series AND parallel. (Assuming they are RWRP)
2) What happens if you wired the tapped and full output of a pickup at the same time
3) like 2 but the tapped output is in series with a pickup, the full output in parallel

Thanks!

I wish I had a basic understanding of how the circuits actually work but I just solder them together based on layouts and (mostly) play them :)

I can't see how this is possible.

Assuming black is ground and the start of the coil you will get the inner winds. I thought this wiring sounded better on my SSL-6T than the traditional method of shorting the black and red.

Again, I don't see how this is possible. Maybe you can create a drawing?

Another option recently mentioned for a tapped single is to take the red tap wire to hot and the black and white to ground. This will put the two coils be out of phase, which I can't believe would sound even remotely usable.

Thanks for humoring me Gregory, appreciated.

I thought of the scenarios as I was working on the wiring I mentioned in this thread: https://forum.seymourduncan.com/sho...ring-for-Nashville-Tele&p=4171528#post4171528

I paste it below:

Picture these two scenarios:
A) Where it says “neck tapped hot” imagine I solder a middle tapped hot (making it in series with the bridge) AND I turn on the full middle via the SPDT (making it parallel).

B)Where it says “neck tapped hot” imagine I solder a middle tapped hot and the full hot. (And then I could turn the middle parallel with the SPDT).

Makes sense?

Re: Basic wiring questions

I get it now. You put one coil in parallel with half of another coil with the other half of the coil in series.

It will work, but the tone won't be particularly distinct/focued/clear. I did something similar a long time ago: a single in parallel with one coil of a humbucker in series with the other coil of the humbucker. It was like quack with added bottom.

Give it a try!

Thanks for your reply!

I think I will, it's not like I need that position that much so I might as well have fun :)
