Bass Build: 2TEK 4 String Bass Bridge

So I was looking at Warmoth's Website and wanted to price out the parts to build a Bass guitar. I was intrigued by the 2TEK Bridge. The design and description looks/sounds very appealing. But it kinda looks like the routing is a point of no return...

Anyone have any experience with these bridges?

The routing most definitely IS a point of no return.

I have had one evening of experience playing on a bass that had one of these bridges. Admittedly, it's not much, and not enough to form an educated opinion, but my assessment is this:

It's a good bridge, but it's not going to make a big enough difference to notice except in the most particular of circumstances. I'm a fan of high mass bridges. I couldn't tell enough of a difference between my own basses, and the bass I borrowed for an evening, for me to want to change my approach. In a future bass build, I'll use a Schaller or Hipshot or Babicz or KSM or newer Gotoh, because they all offer me the substance I want without requiring irreparable modification to the bass body. In other words, if I ever want to change the bridge, I'll be able to do so. The 2TEK makes such a change-of-mind impossible.

Thank you very much–basically gave me the answer I was thinking in the back of my mind.

I'll second BT's post, and add: the Babicz bridge is excellent, unless you want that thin, growly J signature. Doesn't happen.

Thanks

I don't like a thin bass sound–I do like a punchy sounding bass which is why the description of this Tremolo intrigued me BUT I've heard many products claim things and didn't deliver...I'd rather be able to change it up if I don't care for it. lol

Have you ever played around with a Babicz? I built a P bass out of a Squier body, Mighty Mite all maple neck, Babicz bridge, and a QuarterPounder pup, and it sounds amazing.

I put the same bridge on a J I built (again, with QP pups), and it sounded awesome... but not like a J. More like I had two humbuckers in. Put the crappy bent bridge back on, and it sounded right. Couldn't gel with the J body, though, so I sold it to a friend, who loves it.

I actually have not. Before I graduated college I shared an old US Spector Bass with my dad. I believe it had a Spector Bridge on it...stayed in tune very well. I really liked Fender Precision Basses and Gibson Thunderbird Basses...but I really haven't done a whole lot with Bass guitars.
