BASS cabs

Any of you guys know anything about bass cabs? My bro has got a GK 15" cab and a hartke head. The 15 gives tremendous huge lows but a speaker that big does not reproduce mid and high frequencies very well. Can anyone give any good reccomendations on a good 2 X 10 cab to put on top of the 15?

Re: BASS cabs

Any GK 2x10 would be great, if he's able to spend a little more money then go for a Basson, they have truly unique sound.

i use an 80's electrovoice 15 inch speaker with tweeter cab, i swapped out the blown EV speaker and put a whopping 800 watt beyma bass sub woofer. It sounds monstrous.

Re: BASS cabs

We were at guitar center the other day getting strings and we checked out what they had. They had a backline 2 X 10 cab for around 200, but it had no tweeter and was a sealed box. We also saw a behringer 2 X 10, with aluminum speakers and a tweeter, but I've read they're not the greatest quality. Anyone have any experience with those?

That sounds like my cab idea -- get an old 2x15", and swap out for one sub, one coax w/a HF compression driver. (Put the coax on top.) Beefy, and great for slappin' funk.

Don't sweat the x-over... just a 2-way @ 500Hz, w/ an L-pad for the tweeter, cap wired in series. That gives me about 3.5k, and I back off the top end 'till it's smooth, not brittle.
