so I was thinking about buying a zoom b2.1u
reviews say its good. users recommended it and you can record with it(be it average)

any advice with or against?

It is an older unit. The Zoom B3 is the one you need to be looking at if you are searching under zoom. The newer zoom mfx are much better than their old stuff. There is the MS-60B, B1on & B1Xon. The B3 feels solid over the on/xon units, sound wise probably the same. These should be well within your price range.

Apart from that there is the Boss GT10B, not sure what the prices are on those though.

Wondering what the Tonelab does. The tube really shines in there. In my Korg Triton extreme, too. Made by the same company.

In the Zoom G5 which uses a tube as well, there is an led underneath the tube that glows. Some have reported changing the tube to a different brand affects the sound but idk. Maybe Vox has an led in there too, have you ever opened it up to see inside?

no love for BOSS GT-6B here

i ve seen victor wooten using one in one of his rig demos. could be just for effects though.
