Bass Pod XT?

so my new Bass is on it's way, but i don't have an amp for it right now. Since it's a six-string(Peavey Grind NTB 6) i think that not every small combo would handle all the range very well. It will be mainly used for recording purposes so i thought a Pod would be the best alternative instead of trying through different amps.
Is the Bass Pod XT as good as the Guitar Version is or will it on a different level. And since i'm a pod noob, will i need anything more to hook it up to the pc and record?
considering that i can't afford a new Bass Pod right now, are there any other alternatives that will get the job done in the same way?

Re: Bass Pod XT?

It's pretty much the same hardware with bass models instead of guitar.

If you already have the guitar one, you can pay $100 for the bass model pack, which puts all those bass amps in your POD.

Re: Bass Pod XT?

If you can deal without having it be Line 6 the Behringer V-Amp Pro for Bass is a great unit. I think it's head and shoulders above the guitar version, as I've owned both.

The downside of the V-Amps is that there's almost no support for Macs and the community isn't nearly as active as the Line 6 one is. Behringers offering for other things for it isn't as expansive as what Line 6 has to offer.

I do keep seeing the Bass Pod version 2.0's going off for just a little over a hundred. One has been on the Boston CraigsList for $125 for a few months now with no takers. I don't know how much better or even potentially worse the XT is going to be compared to the 2.0 in the realm of bass, but I'm inclined to believe that for the money it's likely to do everything you need it to.

Re: Bass Pod XT?

the bass pod xt has some real cool stuff on it. amp models like the gk, the acoustic 360, and the ampeg are great. the bass overdrive sounds killler. as ratherdashing said though if you already have the guitar pod xt, or are thinking of getting it, you should get the guitar pod and then spend $100 for the bass pod software add-on. that's a heck of a deal.
