Re: Bass Solo's who are your favorites!

Bass should get back behind the amps where it belongs!!1

But seriously, Les Claypool is all I need. All these other guys except for Entwistle don't compare.

THE CHUPACABRA HAS SPOKEN!
Also check out Paul Chambers. An actual bassist with actual chops and actual real skill.
SPOKEN!

The only song you'll ever need. The bass is 100% perfect on this.

Re: Bass Solo's who are your favorites!

I'm believer that the bass is the base, rock, glue the foundation of any band and you don't need to be in the front to be great or shine.

One of my favorite bass players (and fellow Florida west coaster) Jeff Berlin:

Aye alright then.

Sorry, bass solos are even worse than drum solos. The only one I have on an album I own is the one on "Kill 'em All" and I don't care who it mortally offends, it sucks big time.
Playing a solo on a bass is like painting a picture with a crayon.

You never cease to amaze me with how much you talk straight out of your ass. Do you ever bring anything positive to a thread? Do you actually try to be a dick or does it just come completely natural to you? I'm so sick of people and their negativity on this forum.

That Stu Hamm solo from the Satriani DVD is one of my favorites.

Re: Bass Solo's who are your favorites!

Mmm...a lot of tasty bass players out there. I love a great bass player. John Paul Jones never really had a bass solo, I don't think, but his basslines were just so...musical. Many more like that as well, but I mention JPJ because I'm a Zeppelin freak. I also love the the bass solos in YYZ by Rush from Geddy Lee and the ripping bass riff he does in the middle of La Villa Strangiato. Back around 1985 I saw Santana and the bass player did a fifteen or so minute solo that blew me away. He played Purple Haze among other things. I don't know his name. Funny thing was I saw The Firm (Jimmy Page,Paul Rodgers) a few months later, and Tony Franklin played Purple Haze during a solo as well...Hmmm.

Re: Bass Solo's who are your favorites!

Don Thompson takes the first solo in this tune and has a great solo. The bass can be just as musical as any other instrument..

No offense, but posts like that don't help the situation dude. Best to just ignore stuff like that rather than to make a post that would probably make things worse

Huge +1 as well.
Amazing solo
