Bass tone help needed.

I am a guitarist and i have a bassist in my band as most bands do but i have no idea about bass tone.

I would be very grateful if someone could do me a bass tone comparrison. One clip with a sucky bass tone and another with awsome bass tone.

Cos atm a bass sounds like a bass to me.

what kind of music are you playing?

what kind of characteristics is your bass player looking for?

what is everyone's current rig (amps, axes, basses, etc)?

what price range is your bass player looking at?
