Basslines 2 Band Preamp HELP!!!

I just acquired a Basslines 2 band preamp prewired with vol, blend, stacked bass/treble. I don't need the blend pot as I'm running it to a Carvin splittable humbucker. Can I just unsolder the pot and there's a gray wire running to it from the preamp. Where would that go?? Can I also run the Carvin splittable humbucker into a 3 way switch for coil split??

welcome to the forum!!

that gray wire is the input to the preamp. you can remove the blend pot but the gray wire will need to be attached to the pup or the switch or where ever the hot signal comes from

looking at that pic, the green is ground, black is hot and the red/white connection is the series link. the red/white connection is what would be grounded to split the coils. if you wanted to use a three way mini switch i would do this:

the only thing i dont like is that the bare wire should go directly to ground, not to the mini switch. you would attach the hot wire from the switch to the gray wire on the preamp.

what are you doing when it crackles? touching knobs?

I wired the pickup according to the Seymour Duncan split diagram. The 1st aqnd 3rd position are nice and low and full, but the middle one has super low output and has lots of hum.

not really. youll get hum cause its only one coil but the volume of the split option should be about the same as the parallel. do you hear a difference between the 1st and 3rd choices?

see what the dc resistance is at the output jack with all the active controls set flat and the volume all the way up.

in series you should get x, split x/2, parallel x/4 so using real numbers as an example it would be 10k in series, 5k split and 2.5k parallel

you can measure using a cable plugged into the jack, one lead from the meter on the tip and the other on the sleeve. the numbers you get wont be accurate but it should tell you if things are working properly. ive never tried using the cable method with a preamp so its possible that itll mess up the readings but give it a try and see what ya get and we will go from there

Ok, I said I was having problems with the single coil having super low volume, but when I touch a pole on the South coil, I get more volume and hum. What the hell did I do???

maybe, what did you get on those readings?

there are five wires off the pup right? four colored and one bare, the bare should be connected to the central ground of the guitar.

on a duncan the black and white wires are one coil and the red and green are the other. its possible that the red/white wires are flipped on a carvin but that is really reaching on my part. those resistance readings will help me
