basslines and pre-amp power question

I have a couple of active SD basslines pickups - 9V power, currently passive controls (Jazz bass config) but am swapping out for a parametric pre-amp, which also needs 9V power. Do I use same battery to power both the pickups and the pre-amp or is it best they each have separate 9V PP3 power? I've got enough room for 2 batteries if needed.

One battery is fine. You could connect two in parallel, to spread out the power consumption and extend cycles between battery changes. Two separate batteries (one for pickups, one for preamp) will likely mean one dies before the other. Either way if it's my bass I'd use one battery.
