Seths are GREAT in a Les Paul. People worry too much about the lack of potting. Unless you're going to play high gain at insane volumes it really isn't an issue. They are wonderful expressive ROCKIN' pickups. :fing2:

Well, I do play pretty high gain most of the time, but usually not at high volumes. I'll be running the MESA through a power brake.

This is good to know cos the clips were really nice. I jes wanna get my F50 back and then I can make a better decision on whether I wanna go with a Seth or a Custom in the bridge. The F50 is kind of a "dark" sounding amp.... and I had to crank the treble on the one in the store..but at home I know things will sound differently.

Jeff!! Ive been reporting incredible sightings of the newest chinese made Epis.. they were absolutely fantastic for the price. They really went a step over the korean ones. Ive played LPs, SG's and a gorgeous 335 DOT. Honestly, I never been satisfied with Epis, but these new ones are really something!

Congrats!!

Thank You. Perhaps jes the Standard Plus models are made in China? I don know. As I said barring the top and the actual color of the back, it's not much to look at wood-wise, but it has very good tone and is put together pretty well.

I lowered the action a bit and it plays almost as nice as my Deluxe did. still not as nice, but it was 900 smackers less too. I think the big diff is I've actually come to prefer the 59 style fat neck on the Deluxe whereas the Standard+ has a 60's style neck.

Jeff, are you sure you haven't bought an Elitist Epiphone instead of an Epiphone?

Congrats Jeff! I dont know why people refuse to believe Epis can be good. Yes, there are some stinkers, but there are some good ones too. My Epi Ace Frehley is a fine guitar.. My only complaint with it is not a quality issue. It has a brighter tone than a normal LP. The neck is maple and not mahogany. It cuts through very nice, so it isnt a bad thing, but I like the deep throaty LP tone. Whatcha getting Now??
