BC RIch Warlocks

Let me disclaimer.. I have wanted a BC rich warlock since seeing Mick and Nikki playing them back in the day.. Of course, I watched them go from custom made high dollar pieces, to $150 junk. BC rich (as well as most cos now) have some desirable looking imported, new thru ones out now that Im popping a chubby for. One has a floyd , emgs (drat) . I believe its like the new jersey deluxe black onyx model or something like that.

Anyone have any experience with these??

I saw an old thread I did a year or so ago and didnt get much atten.. Sorry for asking again, but there is a special run model thats eating me up....

My first electric! I too always wanted one from seeing all those 80's metal vids as a wee one. One of the most metal looking guitars around.

I've played a few old NJ models and they played great. When BC Rich makes upper end models they really rock. Top notch guitars.

Let's see this special run model you're after!

Re: BC RIch Warlocks

I bought a super cheap used 80's NJ bolt-on model (MIJ) several years ago- basswood or poplar, Kahler Flyer, two of the Gotoh super distortion copies. Guitar played like a dream, and sounded great for heavy rock with those pups, but the ebay seller definitely understated the fret-wear- it was notched all over the place. Put together quite well as typical for old MIj stuff.

It was so horribly balanced, I ended moving the strap button, and it was still really bad. It sat in the case under my bed as I just did not want to put the $ into a new neck or re-fret with the horrible balance. I ended up just cannibalizing it for parts (pups went to ErikH), and it sat under my bed in it's case for 3 years. When I moved I tried to give it away to my bro-in law as a fixer upper, and he didn't want to bother with it either- ended up in the garbage.

I'd def try before you buy to check the balance. I had the same issue with my original early 80s USA bich, and the MIK Mock classic I bought as well. Balance sucked. Very clumsy guitar.

That would have made the pointy contest....

Ah well, it's all in the timing.

Re: BC RIch Warlocks

And nothing wrong with buck-fiddy junk. Let's face it, it's really a style over substance guitar anyway.

Not saying the is no substance to the USA Custom jobs....but the bod is so rockin' who cares!

Ive been told by a couple of guys that these actually balance well.. I was afraid of them being off..
****** BloodRose now I want another guitar.

Sorry Bro! But you can suffer along with me...

Re: BC RIch Warlocks

my second electric guitar was a BC Rich Warlock...I owned a Dean Playmate for a month prior to that (which i traded for said warlock)...

sold it years ago and don't exactly miss it cuz...really...it wasn't that cool. for the time and place that i had it, it was perfect, but quickly phased out.

i'd like a nice USA Warlock to relive my angsty youth with someday but not until i have a nice USA Jazzmaster, Telecaster, Les Paul Special, ES-355, and probably a bunch of other guitars first.

THIS

I had a white platinum series. I've since found a NOS white platinum body, never been assembled before. I had the chance to completely control the neck pocket, cut the angle, drill all the bridge holes, etc. I put a used Platinum series neck on it, stripped and oiled the back of the neck, and leveled the frets. It still plays weird! It's the best it can be but is still strange. But the fun part was re-building a re-imagined version of that first guitar. I even put a Kahler Killer trem on this one!

Re: BC RIch Warlocks

I know... That warlock has an AWFUL spell on me.. #%@%

Re: BC RIch Warlocks

I've always liked Mocks better, my guitar hero (Keith Huckins-Rorschach/Deadguy/Kiss it Goodbye) used one. I've had a few of the NJ's, not bad, but not great either. None of them could compete with my el cheapo LTD EC100. I had one of the USA mock archtops, and it was the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen... warped neck. HUGE letdown is an understatement. I've got a picture around somewhere.
