BE RUTHLESS WITH ME!!!

Guys, you are of TREMENDOUS help, thank you. You see I've always had confidence issues with putting my playing out in front of people. Playing in a black metal band for a handful of tripping drunkards doesn't count. Not to mention that the worse I sounded, the more trvekvlt I was. :) But this here is a whole diferent story with a bunch of seasoned pros and a slew of experienced and much more knowledgeable amateurs than I am. This really helps in building a little confidence that I am not hopelessly bad afterall. Will try to implement your advices by the end of the week!

That does sound really good. Very brutalz!!!!!!

When I saw the YT demo of it where the guy was running only a MXR 5150 OD in front, I about shat myself. Those two devices to the PA could easily be a gig rig. Simply outstanding.

Is it any better?

Something is definitely different, but my ears are ringing and can't tell if it's any better or not... Truth be told, while extracting midi from guitar pro seemed like a good idea (I got it from the band themselves, so must be 100% accurate, methinks), the process ended up producing some weird artefacts/level issues... I suspect if I cleaned those up first I might spare some headache...

love the style! :D very tight and nice riffing.

Would love the snare to be more prominent, like a high-tuned one DM one? :)

rock on!

Tusen tak! :) Yep, it needs more work. Will be during the weekend, just cant manage it on weekdays. Work, practice, playing with the cat, taking care of everday stuff.. But! I do have time to listen to tutorials on mixing and compression, so I will try to apply some of what I heard, First steps will be compressor. I noticed with the drums that while it's generally low in the mix, some bass and snare hits clip. Same thing with the right side guitar. The bass seems to be a bit looser there and some peaks just shoot out on the meter. Loud enough without clipping, but could be more even. So my plan/idea is to try and get a decent compression going on the drums and some on the guitars too, hoping to allow a little more room for the mids of the drum. We'll see. I'm excited. I'm sure I will be frustrated come Saturday, when I realize how much more complex it is than how I imagine it now... :D:D:D:D

good luck, bro! :)

I'll start recording soon, when I get my usb interface.

Maybe I can give better feedback, after learning it myself!

OK, let's see your judgements on this. Obviously not an immaculate pro mix, but I think that thanks to all the great suggestions from you all it's head and shoulders above the first version .

yeah, that's more like it! :D

...i was confused at first, before the snare came in.

Guitars sounds monstrous. Is that a bomb alarm in the background?! :/ .... heavy \m/

Only thing more to ask for... is an aggressive, "rickenbacker pick" style bass growl, to shine trough at times. Maybe ;).

very good.

Goddamit you guys are hard to please! LOL But you are right, in the original song there is even a short bass solo starting @ 1:35. A bit hard to hear in it's current state, but my ears started to get tired and was happy to have made the drums sound decent. Thanks for the kind words!

Great suggestion by Erlend_G re: the snare - that sucker has got to pop and on the final mix I believe you got it.

Great job!
