Beautiful, Classy, Trashy, Gaudy, Ugly or other?

I just saw this Jaguar on Facebook, supposedly an early 70's one based on the maple neck with binding and block inlays. The color could be any, but what do you think of all the gold hardware and tort? Classy and cool or gaudy and way over the top?

Personally, I'm torn....

I really don't care for gold color anything...that being said, in this pic I think it looks decent because of the color/tint of the maple neck.

Could be any - I'd like to see it once it's had some 'experience' ground into it.

No matching headstock? Not a fan of the shade of blue, or the tort, still a cool guitar.

Blocks, gold and maple are awesome.

I was kind of wondering what black with black guard and gold hardware would look like.

Beautiful and classy! I'd play it!

BTW, gold plated Fenders from the 50's, 60's and early 70's are R-A-R-E, and VERY collectible.

id like it better with a matching headstock

Not attractive at all. It looks like a confusing and aesthetically clashing combination of parts. The maple board just doesn't work, especially with those black block inlays and binding. If the paint was white or black, and the guard wasn't tortoiseshell, I'd like the gold hardware, but on most other colors, nope.

Best looking Jaguar I've ever seen.

Looks as if one block inlay dropped out. :p

Re: Beautiful, Classy, Trashy, Gaudy, Ugly or other?

I'd like it better with a different pickguard. Maybe something black to tie the blocks into the guitar a little better.

I... uh... have a little more shopping to do before I make up my mind.

I like it... Jaguars are always kinda retro-funny looking anyway, like they're lost in time. I think the colors suit its look.

I'm pretty much on board with all of this. The whole intentionally mismatching everything really isn't my bag. I like simple and clean, regardless of the specific design.
