Beautiful Les Paul

Re: Beautiful Les Paul

That is a purdy axe for sure...

I too am kinda getting away from the really figured tops..years ago, Thats all I wanted. I was a little disappointed in my new HCSB at first because it WAS very subtle, but it's really grown on me...and a Black Standard w/ creme PG/Rings, and chrome covers is just perfection to me.

Re: Beautiful Les Paul

I like that guitar a lot, It looks like my '58.

Re: Beautiful Les Paul

That is a beautiful Les Paul! I much prefer a more natural wood grain in any guitars. Sometimes quilts and flames can be so deep and defined that you forget it's actually wood.

Re: Beautiful Les Paul

Well I like flames but I am certainly not prejudiced against a beautiful plain top, especially a lemon drop. That is quite a beautiful guitar.

Re: Beautiful Les Paul

Very nice indeed. There's something about the old looking plain top's particularly the '58's that makes them have this ''warm'' appeal and vibe. The Honeyburst and the ''almost'' lemon burst are the best IMHO :)

Re: Beautiful Les Paul

Thats actually a cool guitar on a couple of different levels. It's a looker but it plays and sounds exceptionally well considering the frets haven't been touched since it left the factory. Gibson hasn't been able to give me an explaination for the gold hardware and Grovers. Also, on the inside of the bridge pickup pocket, under the laquer written in ball point pen is 58RI. It'd definately a production std from 98 but I think the body came in a little heavy for a RI and they did something else with it and it may have been an employee or special order guitar. I found it used at a GC in 1999 without a mark on it and it's been my favorite guitar ever, to date.

The double creams are the 14.75k C5 (now a CC) and PGn with gold posts and studs that I talk about from time to time and the guitar is Jimmy Page wired.

You'd have to make a serious offer just to keep me from laughing about selling that guitar.

Thats my baby there.....

Re: Beautiful Les Paul

I'm with Scott, I love'em all.........well, except for a few nasty finishes like Geckoburst, Red Sparkle, or Cream Latte'

Re: Beautiful Les Paul

Beautiful finish. I like the plain tops too. It can be a pain finding one that just looks right, just like flame tops. I wish I could have gotten a Gibson but being on a limited budget, I settled on an Epi LP Standard Plus. I searched high and low until I found one that played right. I love the color. This is a stock picture. My tuners are different and the pickguard has been removed. MJ is going to fix a JB I have for me and put a nickel cover on it.
