bedroom rockstar!

I'm going to start shopping for an amp soon, and I'm looking for ideas. Here are my preferences:

guitar (or bass) combo amp
solid state (or hybrid)
up to 100wRMS
1x12, 2x12, 2x10, 1x15 (not picky)
no modeling or built in effects (distortion, EQ, and reverb are ok)
effect loop
up to $500

I have a few in mind, but I would like to hear what you dudes have to recommend first.

Why not give the Blackstar ID30 a shot? You can always turn the effects off if you don't want to use them and with an update, the mp3 and emulated outs turn into the effects loop's send and return. And it's well within your budget.

look at GC used
My Laney GC80A is 80W
1x12 Solid State
has two amps in one
one side is an acoustic amp
the other is for electrics
both have effects loops and one master effects loop
the tone is righteous nice thick British with nice cleans
reverb

has an thick gainy over drive that is accessible with a foot switch
I used a Peavey two button switch for years before getting the proper one from a Forum bro


I thought for years that if this solid state sounds this good then a tube should be incredible
but I was wrong it has a wonderful tone

I have seen this amp listed used at $250
there is a 60 watt version with just the electric amp
for about $150 used

for bedroom rockstar wannabe I would suggest the Eleven Rack. Tons of different amps, recording capability and it sounds good a TV volume levels.

some sort of modeler and a powered speaker is great for bedroom rockers
some have drum loops to keep your timing on par

some Digitech's come with multitrack recording software

turn that bedroom jammin into
a jingle factory

write bedroom hits and push em on the open market

Song royalties are forever
or some other length of time

I was merely pointing out that if you look around, they can be had for cheap. Keep in mind that eBay prices seem to be totally out of whack.

My Bandit 65 cost me $80 last November (though I had to clean the pots and scrub the tolex). It has a great clean channel, decent dirt channel, and more than enough reverb for surf. It has enough power to gig with, but since it's a solid-state amp, it doesn't HAVE to be cranked. It has an effects loop; the return jack makes it a clean-power module for modelers.

Out of curiosity . . . why do you want 100 watts RMS for a bedroom amp?

For $500 you could get the 1w tube blackstar for guitar and a dedicated bass amp and still have money left over for pro coverage

If your looking for pedal platform in a solid state amp you could also try the Carvin SX series
I think the newer ones have a low power option
100 watt to 50 watt to 25

Or some such

any tube amp is too loud for a small apartment in my experience, I would look to a modeler that you can record with like the others suggested 11rack or other depending on ...

what computer do you have? an interface may be all you need

Does your Tonelab do cab simulation or just preamp?

Just get a keyboard amp, acoustic guitar amp or a powered PA speaker. If it's just a platform for amplifying your sound, might as well get as ultralinear as you can. Get a Mackie that puts out 1000w program and is the size of a Ampeg BA112.
